Summary:
This was our last official meeting, so it was very bittersweet. The way we started the meeting was hilarious. We were going to be meeting in a new room and in our group chat, there was some miscommunication or misinterpretation. Maria and I got lost (we went up to the 6th floor... our room was on the 3rd floor). Then Mario was running late and when he showed up, the guy he has been talking to for quite a while passed by and all the girls literally ran outside to see how he looks, leaving Mario incredibly embarrassed.

For today's meeting, we didn't talk too much about how our goals went or our new goals. I did tell them how my performance went because I had it before the meeting (It went good by the way. I ended up doing Thinking Out Loud because I'm also a fellow Sheerio, got an A+ on that performance). I also brought up the question of how serious we all were when we said we'd meet still throughout the years, despite schedule changes and other unforeseen events. We all came to an agreement to at least meet up once a month or, at bare minimum, once a quarter to catch up. Of course, we knew that for those who are available, we can hang out whenever we want to or talk in our group chat. We then ended up talking about FAFSA for some reason, and the scholarships that CPP and NSLS offer. The conversation afterwards is a blur because we talked about so many things, but we did end the meeting with Mario and I sharing our experiences with the community service event that happened this past Saturday with INSAN.

Afterwards, we took our group picture and just went to BSC to eat and chat. It was one of the best meetings. Super thankful I got to experience such an amazing group and I look forward to seeing how much they grow throughout the years!

Welcome

We are the nation's largest leadership honor society consisting of more than 450 college chapters nationwide, with the mission to build leaders who make a better world. Founded in 2001 by professional speaker Gary Tuerack, his goal was to inspire development and growth in all seeking who are seeking excellence.

Our chapter offers in-person leadership development and peer-to-peer networking for students around the globe.  We offer
life-changing lectures from the nation's leading presenters and a community where like-minded, success-oriented individuals
come together and help one another succeed. The Society also serves as a powerful force of good in the greater community by
encouraging and organizing action to better the world.

FAQs

Why was I invited to join the society?
You were recognized as a student of excellence based on GPA. Our chapter is here to help you remain successful and to further encourage growth.

Are there any costs?
Society members pay a one-time registration fee of $85 when applying to join the organization. The fee includes all membership benefits, partner discounts and a lifetime membership. This will make you a pre-inducted member. Once you are ready to begin with our campus chapter, we accept donations in any amount for the academic year during your induction completion phase. This earns you member points as well as helps fund all of our events and accommodations for our members.

After completing my online registration, what comes next?
You come to our Cal Poly Pomona chapter events and meet your fellow members! We will guide you step by step through the induction process (detailed below) and then we will present you with your induction package and celebrate your achievement at our annual spring ceremony.

How do I become an inducted member for the Cal Poly Pomona chapter?
The steps that you need to complete to be officially inducted into the Society of Leadership are:
  1. Orientation
  2. Leadership Training Day
  3. Three speaker broadcast events
  4. Three Success Networking Team meetings

Orientation is the first meeting that occurs each quarter and will give you access to all the information you need about the program in order to successfully complete the steps for induction as a member.
Leadership Training Day is a 2-hour interactive video training session with a workbook designed to help you identify and overcome any obstacles that may interfere with obtaining your goals. This introspective seminar helps you to recognize your strengths and weaknesses, in order to shift your focus toward your real passions.
At the Speaker Events you will watch some of the world's most successful motivational speakers discussing topics related to leadership, identifying goals, facing challenges, personal growth, and successfully transitioning from college to career.
The Success Networking Team meetings bring together groups of students that work together and provide peer coaching on achieving goals. You can discuss goals, desires and expectations, set timelines and hold each other accountable for achieving what you want. The Success Networking Team provides members with a support network of like-minded goal-oriented students on campus.

What is the induction package?
Once you have completed all of your induction steps, we award you a certificate for achievement, a society t-shirt, a society pin, and a car decal. This will be presented to you at our induction ceremony to celebrate your hard work! You can also buy an additional plaque to accentuate your certificate as well as other a variety of society accessories at our national store online. Stoles can be purchased or earned through chapter leadership involvement

How long is the induction process?
We are all busy students and understand that flexibility differs between everyone.  For that reason, we offer all of our induction steps at least twice a quarter between Fall quarter-Spring Quarter. As a chapter member, you are free to complete the process over your own preferred time span but most members find they can complete it all in a quarter or within a year. Be sure to view our calendar to see what event you can attend next!

What are the some of the benefits of inducting into the society?
When you join some organizations, the information you receive focuses on the material, tangible benefits you receive from membership. A t-shirt, certificate and other goods are nice side benefits, but are definitely not the real value you gain from achieving membership in The National Society of Leadership and Success.

The intangibles that you gain from membership will drive your future and establish you as a leader among your peers, and include: improved self-esteem, peer leadership skills, sustainable motivation and drive, paradigms that will help you discover and achieve your dreams, real world skills that will help you outperform your peers in the workplace, and an enviable network of movers and shakers that are all a part of the drive to create lasting positive change in the world.

You additionally will receive other tangible benefits such as online resources on our website, customized letters of recommendation for prospective employers or graduate schools, graduation accessories that you may purchase and wear at your graduation to display your membership in our organization, access to exclusive scholarships and awards, Success Coaches and our entire Keynote speaker series.
(For a full list and explanation of our membership benefits please visit http://www.societyleadership.org/memberinfo.)

I noticed the title "Sigma Alpha Pi" for the chapter. Is the society a fraternity?
No, we have greek letters because we are a nationally recognized honors society.

How do I find the society scholarships and awards?
Please visit http://www.societyleadership.org/memberinfo/awards/overview for information on current Scholarships and Awards.
